Humans always want to be immortal,
That’s what they say in their dreams,
To be able to survive,
An unlimited ‘mount of lives ,
They think how great that’d be!

But what they don’t really know,
Is that their life is a stage,
And I’m the main director!

*evil laugh*

Don’t think I’m being insincere now,
I’d give my immortality to be human!
Do you know what it’s like to go into your home
and a thousand souls surround you?
And trust me, they astound you!

And they plead!
And they beg!
And they get on their knees and cry out:
“I must say goodbye!”
“it can’t be over yet!”,
“I never wrote that novel!”,
and that always imminent,
“I’m not done living yet!”

But beyond here,
is a dreamland!
Where all you whimsies come true!
Don’t they see that?
When they go into the light?
But no. Just no.

You wouldnt believe the ridiculous pleas,
of souls on their knees!
They ask for life!
They ask for riches!
They dare ask for vanity!

But don’t they know,
shouldn’t they know,
they’ve just begun living?

How swell it’d be to be an eagle,
or a rambunctious chimpanzee,
or a floating, lazy dandelion?

But no,
they don’t ask for that,
they ask for immortality.

i really liked how everyone dispersed really quickly after the thneedville opening song in the movie? like it was rehearsed. like idk after the once-ler first set up thneedville he scheduled bimonthly townwide musical numbers. please show ur pride in ur town (ATTEND OR ELSE). thank you.
